Remember It's very important to look for the right breeder take
your time, there are many things people forget when looking for
a puppy whether it's a dane or another breed. Health testing!!!!
Check to see if both parents have had hips, thyroid, CERF (eyes)
and Cardio checked if not ask why. A good breeder wants to
improve the quality of the breed and help in the effort to
diminish genetic health issues.
Even
though purchasing price is important be concerned if the price
seems to reasonable sometimes quality affects prices. (I would
like to also comment in my search when looking to buy my puppies
I found a few breeder with extremely high prices who didn't do
any appropriate health testing and bred to anything in there
back yard) Also your food and vet bills will be higher with a
giant breed. My 35# dog eats less than 2 cups of food a day and
my male dane (155#) eats closer to 10 cups of food a day ( this
will vary less or more depending on your individual dog and this
also doesn't mean buy a cheaper food all dogs deserve a quality
dog food).
Your
annual vet bills will be more working at a vet clinic I can tell
you there is a huge difference in prices. Heartworm preventions
is doubled, if they are sick they need double of
antibiotics/pain relievers etc than your average size dog.
Danes also like to be with people please consider how many hours
you'll be gone a day. This is not a breed to have because it's
cool. Being gone to much can affect them. Danes love to be loved
and love loving back. |
